Foster Parents Needed!

Child & Family Services of Northeast Michigan, Inc. has a need for foster families who have a genuine desire to spend extra time and effort with children who have problems.Children in need of care and services by Child & Family Services may have some or all of these characteristics: delinquency, physical handicaps, mental illness, emotionally impaired, behavior disorders, learning disabilities, mental impairments, low self-esteem and medical disorders. Age range is 0-18. Foster parents must be willing to make a commitment to the agency, to training, and to the child. Foster families must be of good moral character and meet the licensing requirements established by the Michigan Family Independence Agency. Parents who have had problems with substance abuse or illegal behavior in the past may still be licensed, if the problems have been dealt with and overcome for a period of time and meet the requirements of the Michigan Family Independence Agency review process.

The foster parents must have sufficient income to support a foster child and must not depend on foster care checks as part of their regular income.
The foster parents must be 21 years old. A couple should have at least been involved and/or been together for at least one year and exhibit a stable and committed relationship. Single adults can become foster parents. Living-together parents/partners may be licensed if they meet licensing standards.
The homes must be in an accessible location for caseworkers and resources must be available for the childs physical and social well being.
